The BLRC 3rd div team travelled out to sunny Abbotsford on the weekend to play the always tough and hard working Abby 3rds. The game plan on the day was to work to secure as much clean ball to allow the young and speedy backs to play as much in Abby's end as possible. From the out set of the game, the Abby forwards dug in to play a hard, up-front game and were pressing in the BLRC 22m line for the first 5 minutes of the game. Against the run of play, former U-18 BC player, David Pankratz (returning from a couple of seasons away from the club), scored an 80 m intercept try to begin the scoring. From this point on, the BLRC forwards worked their tails off in an effort to give the time, space and overlaps necessary for the backline to begin running in some tries.

At the end of the day, David Pankratz had finished with 4 tries in a little over 60 minutes of work to the delight of the many BLRC fans in attendance. Strong games were had by Mike Turner with his first start of the year, Mauro Perrizzolo, Anthony Bird and Craig Maclaughlin. The BLRC would like to thank the ref Andre for his handling of the game, the Abbotsford rugby club for hosting us and all of the fans of that made the trek out to Abbotsford for the game. Next week, the 3rds will host the Kats and the top two teams will get their first games in 3 weeks when hosting the reigning Miller Cup & BC Provincial runners up the Meralomas.
