Mini Rugby - Practice - Sunday February 7th
Once again I hope everyone had a great practice last weekend. Great to see new rugby players out! And this past weekend we had some great help from more of our senior men's team; Alex, Tom, and Mike.
This Sunday looks like it's going to be a great day outside! Just remember that some of the little ones have been getting cold towards the end of practice, so please dress accordingly.
And please remember MOUTHGUARDS!
Mini Rugby will be every Sunday morning from 10am – 11:30am on the field & upstairs in the clubhouse following with hot dogs & juice. If you know of any other friends who would like to play mini rugby, please invite them out to Sunday’s practice. The BLRC Mini Rugby flyer is attached.
Practice This Week:
Also, as we are trying to prepare for our jamborees, we need to teach the players how to go into contact and how to tackle. For this we need all players to be bringing mouthguards to practices. You may purchase them at any sporting good store, or at the clubhouse for $5 (if this is your choice, please be sure to arrive early enough so your player has time to mold it, and not miss any practice time). Players without mouthguards will have to "watch" the portion of practice that involves contact; and will not be able to participate.
Registration and Gear:
Please make sure you get your rugby registration forms, $60 registration fee, copy of birth certificate & care card to Geri Grigg or Erin Agostini this weekend. Once the registrations have all been received, we will be eligible to attend the Mini Rugby Jamborees. I cannot stress this one enough, we have an upcoming jamboree in a couple of weeks time, and will not be able to attend if we do not have all of the information necessary from ALL of the players.
Who still needs rugby kit: jersey, shorts, socks, mouthguards? Please let Trish or Geri know what you need & the size jersey for your child. The club has ordered more kit to arrive shortly. We would like to have this completed as much as possible by February 14th, so everyone is prepared for the jamboree the following weekend.
Olympics & Rugby:
Please confirm with the coaches, preferably through email, your child's availability for the month of February. Most particular, Sunday February 21st, as it is our first jamboree and we will need to submit our team's entry by mid-week.
I, D'Alice, will be out this Sunday, and not returning until March. It will be a crazy few weeks for me, working two full time jobs. But I trust, and know Blair will run great practices. He'll also have assistant coaches that will be joining him on the field.
Parent Social:
We are looking for parents help on coordinating the Parent Social (Friday, February 19th, 6pm onwards). Please talk to Geri, Trish or D’Alice on Sunday or email us if you would like to help out. Thanks. This is a fun social time for the rugby parents to meet!!!! In years past it has been a social potluck where parents can get to know each other and the coaches. But new and fresh ideas are always welcomed.
