Season Opener
Tomorrow is the Club’s home opener and a rugby day in every sense; the day’s six fixtures start at 10am with the U19s and carry on to the Women & Men’s matches and finally to the BLOBs pitch in the Clubhouse for some unrivaled cheer.
The Men’s first division team bridges the generation gap in experience as five over-30 players are rounded out with ten U23 players including four from the National Champion, U20 Wave team.
The Women are fielding an equally strong XV, closely resembling the squad that took the BC Provincial title back in May as both teams showdown against the Bayside Sharks.
All three development squads will showcase the raft of new players that have found their way to the Lake in the past months. More than a dozen new faces take the pitch for their first go in the Burnaby Lake jumper on Saturday.
Pairing the new meat with vintage wine are the Old Boys, out in style for BLOBs Day as we celebrate the contributions and continued support of the alumni. Meanwhile, on the other side of the country, we'll be sending good luck to coach Mike James' BC Bears who take on the Rock in Newfoundland with Pat Riordan captaining and Colin Mackenzie & Neil Meechan on the starting line-up.
From coast to coast, the BLRC will be alive and well and the roast will roll and the weather will hold for some great rugby –pencil yourself in for the full day.
